I worked for a month in a school that is working towards providing meaningful education for the less-privileged children in the slum areas of

Karachi.

I had been working as the organizer and a member of the core group of Kahyal Kahan-VASL which is an artists’ organization that is working on

various Public Art projects.

2004-05 the New York Theater Belle

I worked as a set designer and a makeup artist for a dance group from New York that was working in collaboration with UPenn and the

American Institute of Pakistan Studies in Islamabad. (Two months)

2004 American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS)

I worked as a research assistant under Dr. Haq in the summer of 2004. Dr.Haq is a professor of Art History at U Penn and also holds the post of

a scholar in residence at the AIPS’ Islamabad office. I assisted him in a project that was concerned with the documentation of Private Archives

of Pakistan.

2003 Pakistan Business Update

I did an internship at the office of the TV program Pakistan Business Update in the summer of 2003. During this internship I made two

documentaries for which I did the concept, storyboard, scripting and interviewing. I was also involved in the editing of these documentaries.

2002 PTV

Acted for a thirteen-episode drama Serial, Chahat kay Rang. Ms. Tasneem Aslam directed this drama.

The same year I also acted in a long play, directed by Mr.Qasim Jilali in the year 2002. This play was produced for the Eid transmissions. The

name of the play was: Dil nay Kaha.

2001 The Book Group

I worked as an assistant to the head of the creative department of a book publishing company, The Book Group during the summer of 2001.

During the course of my internship, I proof read several books and helped in many illustrations. I also learnt the procedure of printing books.

2000 PTV

I worked as a main supporting actor in a 13 episode drama serial, directed by Saira Kazmi. The drama was titled ‘Zaibunissa’.

Selective Publications

Socio-political References in the Works of Pakistani Female Artists from the Post-Zia Period till Present. This article is being published in the

annual issue of the research journal of the Department of Sociology, University of Karachi.

Desi Dhamal: an article on the local marketing trends. Published in Synergyzer’s 25th issue, in 2010. Synergyzer is a specialized Advertising and

Theater: In the year 2002, I acted in two plays that were performed at the Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC). The show was open to
public and was organized by the Lyceum school.
